Overview of the Real Estate Market in La Vista
La Vista is a suburban city located about 6 miles south of Omaha. This family-oriented community is served by Papillion La Vista Community Schools and a robust parks and recreation departement that operates numerous parks, a community center, swimming pool, senior center, community gardens and youth and adult programs. The school district has a graduation rate of 94 percent.
La Vista is home to many of the largest employers in Sarpy County, including Omni Engineering, PayPal, Securities America and Streck Labs. About 40 percent of the labor force works in management, business, science and arts.
La Vista has plans to start an apartment, retail, restaurant and office development known as "City Centre". The $175 million-plus City Centre will bring apartments, restaurants, retailers, offices and a grocer to the roughly 30-acre site of the old Walmart on 84th Street and Giles Road, which has sat vacant for years. The City Centre also will connect to a sprawling city park that will replace the La Vista Falls Golf Course.
