College World Series and Omaha Sports Teams

Omaha is definitely a sports town and has hosted the College World Series for 64 years and counting. Omaha built the TD Ameritrade Park stadium in 2011 at a cost of $128 million. The arena seats over 24,000 fans. The NCAA Men’s College World Series happens every June. If you are a fan, plan to get your tickets early! It is truly a week like nothing else! Creighton University Men’s baseball also uses TD Ameritrade Park for their home games. Omaha has two hockey teams, University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks and Omaha Lancers, a USHL Tier 1 junior hockey league. The PGA golf tour has made a regular stop in Omaha every year since 1996.
 

Fortune 500 Companies

Union Pacific railroad has made a home in Omaha along with four other Fortune 500 Companies: Berkshire Hathaway, ConAgra, Peter Kiewit Sons and Mutual of Omaha. There are several other large corporations that are headquartered in Omaha: Gallup, TD Ameritrade, First National Bank and West Telemarketing. Union Pacific recently completed their new headquarters in downtown Omaha at 14th and Douglas. TD Ameritrade opened their Old Mill headquarters in West Omaha in 2013. Omaha is also home to the Union Pacific Herriman Dispatch Center, located at 8th and Jones Street. This dispatch center controls all 32,000 miles of Union Pacific track. All these major companies employ thousands of people within Omaha and nationwide.
 

Boys Town Headquarters

Boys Town was founded in 1921 but came to fame in the 1930s when Hollywood made it the subject of a film. Today, Boys Town is no longer just for boys, but instead serves boys and girls. It also operates a national help line for teens all over the United States. Boys Town has locations in 12 other states.
